About Me

About Me

Never happier than when I’ve got paint between my toes…..!

**Shortlisted – Royal Arts Prize 2020**

I guess you could say I’m a converted art consultant/conservator who prefers to get her hands dirty.

I experiment with paint to express the colours and movements inspired by the photography of NASA and the cinematography of BBC series Blue Planet. I attempt to not only highlight the beauty of the planet but to try and capsulate some issues such as the melting of glaciers and harsh habitats.

In my home studio I physically move around the canvas/surfaces to manipulate and apply the paints from different angles. The liberation and technique of such free-flowing work drives me to push the boundaries of what can be achieved, creating a never-ending myriad of movement, effects and finishes reflecting underwater phenomena and the dramatic images of the solar system.

The world of visual effects and large scale art was opened up to me from a young age when I experienced working on scenic art for Welsh National Opera.  Probably the most influential environment for me before later attending The Courtauld Institute of Art to study Conservation of Frescoes and the science behind the artists’ materials.

Come and visit my studio and you’ll discover how I create my latest collection of art all based on nature and the underwater world – my second passion in life.

I bought a painting from Amy Salisbury last year, it's absolutely stunning, I love it. She had it framed for me before I picked it up - the service was very professional and efficient.

Emma Lewis-Galic, London

Every morning my painting by Amy catches my eye and makes me smile, which is something money can’t buy.  I feel so honoured to own such a creative piece of work and it was personally delivered to my door!  FABULOUS!

I love my Jellyfish painting - it's the most divisive piece of art I've ever owned. Everyone talks about it and everyone has an opinion. Honestly people come in and either say "OMG I love that" or they sit down and after 5 mins say "I'm really sorry that picture is freaking me out"..... I totally love love love it.

Wynne Evans - BBC Wales

I love my painting Seashore 3. Each time I look at it I see something different that I haven't noticed before which is bizarre given that I must've spent hours looking.

The brief for the commission was to come up with something that captured the power of the sea and waves but I believe Amy has not only met the brief in terms of 'energy' but also has elements of calm where the paints flow and merge into one.

Not sure what I'll ever purchase that I love as much!

Lisa Newberry, Cardiff

My seasape 'Water 1' draws me to look at it every time I'm in the room - how lucky we are to have such a humble and talented local artist

Barbara Williams, Vale of Glamorgan

'Three Cliffs' takes pride of place in the living room of my apartment and fully compliments my stunning seascape views of Cardiff Bay and the Severn beyond. I snapped up this wonderful piece during an exhibition Amy staged at NosDa.

I have always been particularly taken by Amy’s knack of subtly catching the ‘sense of place’ of her subject matter with a very unique interpretation of light through her use of texture in paint.

Mr Sion Llewelyn, Owner - NosDa Cardiff

Amy is a talented and passionate artist who takes pride in her work and offers a bespoke, professional service. I was first introduced to Amy during an exhibition at Boundary Art, where her ‘Blue Planet’ exhibit captured my imagination.

I am extremely pleased to have two fabulous paintings. ‘Dance of the Plankton’ and ‘Arctic Drift’ have both been a beautiful addition to my home, with their colours, texture and expressiveness.

Mr A Spragg

Amy is a wonderful and unique person and this comes through in her fabulous art - all of her pieces have an individual style and feel.

I am the happy owner of 3 pieces from her Chalcedony collection which proudly sit in my apartment in Marbella and always draw a comment from guests.

The service was first class even when delivering abroad.

Nathan Jones, Marbella Spain

Absolutely thrilled with ‘Kepler 62F’.

I purchased it from the incredibly talented artist, Amy Salisbury, after seeing her artwork exhibited in London.

The piece is beautiful and intricate and the acrylic on aluminium provides a high sheen which emits various colours as the light reflects from different angles giving it a real “wow factor” ❤️❤️❤️
